The European repair parts and car maintenance retailer-stockholder, Doyen Auto has used LM7 for many years and will implement Magistor at its 3 proximity warehouses in France and the Benelux countries.
As a Belgian company specialised in the repair parts and car maintenance trade (products linked to braking, suspension, exhaust etc.), Doyen Auto is present in France and the Benelux countries. To face up to increased express delivery requirements in these countries – given that wholesalers stock less and less and have to re-deliver their customers themselves – the company built its logistic organisation around two central warehouses based in Seneffe in Belgium and in Toulouse in France. These two fully-mechanised platforms offer an exhaustive, very large repository of the entire product range (over 100 000 references) and have been driven by the French editor a-SIS’ LM7® software package since 2004.
However, to increase its dispatch responsiveness, the Belgian leader decided to create proximity warehouses in France and the Benelux countries. Contrary to the first two sites, these three warehouses with a surface area of less than 5 000 m2 and un-mechanised offer a more restricted repository (even if it is made up of several thousand references) and use collection/sorting or collection /ventilation and radio-frequency terminal type preparation processes. Orders are taken up to 11 a.m. for delivery before 3 p.m. in a radius of 150 kms.
To optimise the logistic processes, Doyen, who wanted to implement a WMS at its new sites naturally turned to the editor a-SIS. Indeed, with LOGISTICS MANAGER SUITE, the latter offers an extensive range which can be adapted to each customer’s requirements. As LM7® is more suited to large sites using complex processes, Doyen’s choice fell on Magistor’s WMS module intended for simpler warehouses. This solution, which is both efficient and user-friendly, appealed to Doyen because of its simple implementation, its functional wealth and a very fast ROI.
Christian Célis, the Logistics Director, comments: "As we’ve already been using LM for 7 years now, it seemed natural to see what a-SIS had to offer in terms of light WMS. They presented Magistor to us. The product seemed interesting but just to be sure, we still looked elsewhere... Ultimately, our decision was to opt for Magistor and thus consolidate our partnership with a-SIS. Given what we have seen of the initial steps taken with the Magistor team, we’re already convinced that we made the right decision." »
