CSP relies on SAVOYE to ensure flawless logistics

CSP is a family-operated company founded in 1951, and is the leading pharmaceutical depository in France and Europe. In 2020, CSP will acquire the INTELIS PTS high-performance robotic order preparation system from SAVOYE in the future extension of its Moussy le Neuf (77) warehouse, located near Charles de Gaulle Airport.

To satisfy its many customers: pharmaceutical laboratories, wholesale distributors, pharmacies, healthcare establishments, doctors, supermarkets, etc. with constantly improving quality of service and speed of execution, pharmaceutical distributor CSP continuously monitors technological and other developments in its sector. Its objectives:  to equip itself with the most appropriate tools to achieve its logistical goals and perform the activity its customers expect.

Delivering a lasting solution, a source of ROI

To do this, CSP deploys significant resources. The company has a total of 200,000 m2 of warehouse space in France and Benelux, of which 82,000 m2 at its Cournon d’Auvergne site near Clermont-Ferrand, 83,000 m2 in Moussy le Neuf near Paris, and 15,000 m2 in Belgium. The Cournon d’Auvergne site has a SAVOYE person-to-goods order preparation line, which was installed in 2015 and extended in 2017, but the Moussy le Neuf site is where the pharmaceutical distributor is currently building a 30,000 m2 extension, to be equipped with an INTELIS PTS goods-to-person solution from SAVOYE in 2020. “Our ambition was to make a sustainable investment in a lasting technology, with a coherent and acceptable ROI. That is why we carried out an in-depth study of all the existing tools. We found several service providers, including SAVOYE”, explains Laure Brenas Baudry, pharmacist, CEO of CSP.

Offering zero fault logistics for the benefit of public health

Seeking a flexible solution that would provide both retail preparation and complete package preparation, CSP decided to opt for SAVOYE'S goods-to-person shuttle solutions. The designer and integrator of logistics solutions offered to install a robotic solution for the preparation of standard packages, and an automated solution for retail preparation. The facility will include, amongst other things, 600 m of INTELIS CONVEY plug & play conveyors, two INTELIS PTS aisles, four INTELIS PICK STATION operator stations, and a robotic layer depalletising solution. It will be able to handle 11,000 additional packages per day, bringing the daily total to 60,000 packages.

Our activity is extremely sensitive; it's a matter of public health. That is why we must use a robust, tried and tested solution. Seeing the system in operation for logistics specialists gave us the proof we needed of its efficiency. In parallel, the after-sales services offered by SAVOYE, the maintenance, volumes and delivery times, all satisfied our expectations,” adds Laure Brenas Baudry.

Supporting the growth of a French and European Leader

Due to be operational in June 2020, the solution was also designed to be extensible. Both partners planned for the possibility of installing additional aisles on the INTELIS PTS system and doubling the order preparation and resupply system. “We are experiencing very strong growth. Following Moussy le Neuf, a new 28,000 m2 extension project has just started in Cournon d’Auvergne (63). We are currently looking into what would be most relevant for the activity to be conducted there. In any case, we hope this partnership will be a long-lasting one,” concludes Laure Brenas Baudry.
