Savoye mechanises the e-business warehouse of Nature & Decouvertes

To face up to the explosion in its on-line sales, the brand has chosen to mechanise its e-business warehouse in Coignières (78) with Savoye (logistics engineering).

Is e-business enjoying a boom? At Nature & Découvertes, indisputably ! The brand, which launched the on-line sale of its products in 2000, is enjoying great success, and last year recorded a turnover of 4 500 000 € (+50% on 2009). It anticipates an increase of 50% in its activity this year… and 25% a year until 2015! The brand wants to anticipate its growth by mechanising its    e-business warehouse in Coignières, in the Yvelines. It has entrusted Savoye with the task. The logistics engineering specialist will begin to fit out the site this summer, so that it can be operational in September to prepare for Christmas. Éric TILLEROT, Savoye’s Sales Engineer in charge of the project explains: « Nature & Découvertes generates almost 65% of its e-business turnover during the three months before Christmas. Our installation will allow them to absorb this peak in orders during this period within the deadlines. » The system will be fully upgradeable to accompany Nature & Découvertes’ growth: « We have made projections with Nature & Découvertes’ teams, to define the processes and equipment to be in a position to evolve with the requirements and flows expected over the next five years », he continues.

A fully upgradeable system
Savoye anticipates the implementation of a preparation conveyor with 8 stations, with a manual launching station. A weight checking system will be fitted at the end of the conveyor. The system will also include two packaging lines (crate closure wedging) and an automatic sort for making up loads. The WCS will be interfaced with Nature & Découvertes’ in-house WMS. The Savoye installation could evolve, if the brand so wishes, towards fully automated « Goods-to-Man » type equipment, such as Savoye’s PTS Picking Tray System.

The system implemented in the Nature & Découvertes warehouse will allow the management of 4,800 active references of all sizes – from the re-filling of essential oils to telescopes –, and the preparation of 4,000 orders a day. The brand will benefit from a considerable expansion margin. The system will offer improved work station user-friendliness, by reducing the number of product « picks », movements and load carrying.

Training days are planned for operators and warehouse managers.

Savoye has about ten customer references in the e-business field, including Nature & Découvertes, vente-privée.com, Bergère de France…
