What is goods-to-person picking in an automated warehouse picking system?
Goods-to-Person (GTP) is a modern picking method where automated systems (like shuttles or mobile robots) deliver items directly to a stationary operator. This is the opposite of “Person-to-Goods,” where workers spend up to 60% of their time walking through aisles to find products.
How automated warehouse picking systems work ?
When an order is triggered, the SAVOYE WMS/WCS coordinates with the storage system (such as the X-PTS shuttle) to retrieve the specific bin. The bin is transported via high-speed conveyors to a SAVOYE pick station. The operator simply follows visual cues (pick-to-light) to take the required quantity and place it into the shipping carton, ensuring maximum speed and zero fatigue.
Benefits of goods to person picking in automated warehouse picking systems
- Improve productivity and accuracy
- Reduce labor and operational costs
- Enhance operator comfort and efficiency
Goods to person picking station: automated warehouse picking system combining performance and ergonomics
The X-PTS® Pick Station can be used in different modes and for different activities (picking, inventory, etc.) and is an ergonomic picking station, designed to withstand high speeds and adapt to busy periods.
At SAVOYE, we have chosen to place people at the heart of the goods-to person process and the overall design of our X-PTS® Pick Station. With a stated goal to maximize the comfort of your operators, favoring correct and efficient postures, while reducing the effect of stresses that generate fatigue.
