Savoye equips a new regional logistics centre for the Rexel group

Rexel, distributor of electrical equipment for professional use, has asked Savoye to equip the new building at its regional logistics centre in Cestas (33). That is how the designer and integrator of logistics solutions supports Rexel in its D+1 delivery policy.

Rexel, a distributor of specialist equipment for professionals, is on a mission to distinguish itself as a leading light in the electrical product distribution sector. With nine regional logistics centres all over France: Saint-Herblain (44), Miramas (13), Meung-sur-Loire (45), Roissy-en-Brie (77), Cestas (33), Tournefeuille (31), Saint-Vulbas (01), Dourges (62) and Champigneulles (54), Rexel delivers more than 35,000 different items at D+1 every day.

A modernised regional logistics centre to deliver at D+1

In order to optimise its logistics processes, the distributor recently had a brand new building built in Cestas (33). The building covers 18,000 m2, divided into three cells of 6000 m2 each, and houses the storage of 25,000 different items. The Cestas regional logistics centre was designed to provide D+1 delivery of any order received before 6 PM the previous day, with the aim of increasing flows and improving the productivity of its order preparation. To do this, the distributor relied on the expertise of its partner that specialises in logistics solutions: Savoye. Already equipped with a WMS published by A-SIS, a Savoye brand, since 1999, Rexel integrated the INTELIS® conveyor range into its facilities in the autumn of 2018. Installed on two levels, the smart, modular system based on the plug-and-play principle allows Rexel to collect, check weights, and close orders, as well as to sort shipments. All of this is controlled via a WCS connected to the WMS.

Logistical and environmental efficiency

In addition to its ability to adapt to Rexel’s activity, INTELIS®, the smart conveyor system, also meshes with the distributor’s wish to run an eco-responsible site with BREEAM Good certification. Operating on a 100% electrical principle, the system is noise-free, making it more comfortable for the teams to operate. It also stops automatically in the absence of packages. “This is how Savoye supports Rexel in its logistics optimisation needs, whilst responding to its sustainable development approach. In parallel, we also provide them with a complete after-sales service. Thanks to a trusting relationship on which a sustainable partnership between our respective project teams is built, we succeeded in completing the project in just a few months“, concludes Christophe Drapier, Sales Engineer at Savoye.
